Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Jivu (the "Service"), operated at jivu.sh, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Jivu is a zero-knowledge secret sharing service. You can create encrypted secrets (text or files) that self-destruct after being read or after a set time. The encryption key lives in the URL fragment and is never transmitted to the server.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for illegal activities or to share illegal content
  • Spam, harass, or abuse other users
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls
  • Share content that infringes on intellectual property rights

Violations may result in account suspension, IP bans, or secret removal by our moderation team.

4. Accounts

Free tier: anonymous use is supported with no account required. Paid tiers (Pro, Team) require an account with a valid email.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. We use scrypt password hashing and cannot recover your password.

5. Payment

[TODO: confirm payment processor before launch] Paid subscriptions are processed via a third-party payment provider. You authorize recurring charges based on your selected tier. Prices: Pro $9/month, Team $29/month (5 seats included).

6. Tier Limits

Free: 10 secrets per IP per day, 1-day TTL, 5-view limit, 1 MiB max. Pro: 90-day TTL, 25 MiB files, custom slugs, developer API. Team: 5 seats, shared namespace, centralized audit.

7. Zero-Knowledge Model

The Service is designed so that the server cannot read your secret content. Encryption occurs in your browser. The encryption key is placed in the URL fragment, which browsers never transmit to the server. The server stores only ciphertext. However, we cannot guarantee absolute security and you use the Service at your own risk.

8. Data Retention

Secrets are destroyed (ciphertext set to NULL) when read (burn-after-read), when the view limit is reached, when the TTL expires, or when revoked. Audit metadata (IP, timestamp, user-agent) is retained for 12 months. Account data is retained until you delete your account.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any loss of data, including secrets that are destroyed as designed. Our maximum liability is limited to the amount you paid in the preceding 12 months.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
